Elders

Elders

Elders (or shepherds or pastors) are referred to in the New Testament church as those who are given the responsibility of guarding and watching over the souls of the members of the church.

Acts 14:23 as well as Acts 20:28 and Philippians 1:1, point to God’s design for a plurality (more than one) elder. 1 Timothy 3:1-7 list the qualifications of elders. The main responsibilities of elders are to protect, preserve, and provide for the spiritual well being of the flock, or church. Presently the Northwest Church of Christ has four elders.
